Cambodian High-level Delegation Eyes Shenzhen’s Success

A high-level delegation from Cambodia, led by the Under Secretary of State of Ministry of Economy and Finance and accompanied by Governors of four Cambodia's Coastal Provinces, is set to conduct a study visit to Shenzhen, China, from February 16 to 19, 2025, aimed at gaining innovative economic development; promoting the investment opportunities in Cambodia's coastal provinces; and hoping to attract international investors and strategic partners.

Led by Tep Phiyorin, Under Secretary of State of Ministry of Economy and Finance, the delegation comprises of Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province; Mithona Phouthorng, Governor of Koh Kong province; Mau Thaknin, Governor of Kampot province; Som Piseth, Governor of Kep province; Chea Kok Hong, Director of the Master Plan Secretariat; and government officials from both state and provincial levels. The delegation will engage with key stakeholders, including Qianhai Administration, Shenzhen State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), and Qianhai Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. The visit will focus on areas such as the development and operations of special economic zones, digital transformation, strategic investment, innovation in manufacturing, smart customs clearance processes and entrepreneurship.

“This study visit is an invaluable opportunity for Cambodian delegates to learn and come back with a thriving economic diversification and innovation mindset,” said Chea Kok Hong. “Under current global economic turmoil, Cambodia must accelerate the innovative economic development, especially in export-oriented industrial park setup and operation, advanced manufacturing and the digital economy, positioning Cambodia as a preferred investment destination for industrial expansion and relocation,” he added.

The trip will include site visits to major special economic zones, technology parks, networking sessions with Chinese business leaders, and discussions on potential investment and partnership opportunities in areas such as export-oriented industrial parks, agro-processing zone, and infrastructure projects related to tourism, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics, etc. The delegation’s insights from this visit are expected to contribute to shaping Cambodia’s policies and strategies for a successful implementation of the 15-year Master Plan which will transform Cambodia’s coastal provinces into world-class tourism destination and regional logistical hub, trade and industry.
